Growing up and adding 1 more! |Queen Creek Family Photographer

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Every mini session season, I'm excited to see familiar faces and catch up with the little ones that are growing up faster than I'd like to see.

I first met the M family when they were expecting their first...their little boy.

And here he is, the sweet and active age of 2.
Almost two months ago, they welcomed their baby girl into their family...making if complete.
I was ultra happy to capture one of her first smiles...just as I was clicking away, the grin happened and I smiled with her.

Their little guy is a total hat junky...taking the hat off for just a few frames was almost torture. Thankfully my assistant was there to torture me with tickles to distract him a bit...apparently he found it funny to see the photographer giggling on the ground.
To the M family, yet again...thanks for another great session.

Definitely the longest newborn post! |Gilbert Newborn Photographer

I have no idea where to even begin with writing words for this post.

It comes down to one thing...this fall season is truly the best in the past 4 years I've been in business. When I really think about it, I'm smiling that I get to watch families grow and that they continue to invite me into their lives to capture their family as they are.

I first met this family almost two years ago when their son was born. I knew during their session we were a good fit. This family is all about fun, laughing and justing being who they are. I remember trying to get a couple serious pictures with the mother and...that kind of picture just can't happen with her. She is always laughing and smiling. It's too unnatural not to see her smiling happy.

I photographed them last when their son was turning one. During that session, they had shared with me that they were expecting their second. A couple months later, they were determined to get on my crazy fall calendar and I'm so happy they did. Honestly, there really wasn't a way I wouldn't have found a date for them. They are just one more reason I love my job and make each of the late nights working worth it for me.

Introducing the newest baby in their family. Baby Peyton.
The most rewarding part of their session is that they were 100% real. Their son is 18 months old and they embraced capturing him just how he is in this stage.

I'm not going to lie, sweet Carter was a total ham during this session. Sitting back and capturing it and going in the direction he wanted to made the pictures fun to take. This is the kind of session I dream of having with my twins when we had Easton.

I love the hysterical moments in life, the moments we want to remember in 20 years and I'm happy I captured these moments.

To the L family...I love each of you and thanks for a great session. I love you even more after the hours we spent together talking and laughing.

Each of my clients know, I honestly have no shame in what I'll do for a picture. One of which is encouraging kids with candy. After hysterically convincing Carter for pictures, I busted out the candy Nerds. He snuck away for a second and broke into the stash.

One of my ultra favorites from this session. He has the most beautiful, ice blue eyes and is all boy....football in mouth and all.

Oh, this picture makes my mommy heart cry for just one more baby. If only, if only....they arrived sleeping through the night.

I just love this picture...so simple, so right in the moment...and so what I would've loved to have my kids have as a memory when they're older.

When I ended their session, I gave them the rundown for when I would be able to deliver their edited pictures. And what did they say...they told me to take my time. That they weren't in any hurry, that they knew I was busy enough with my crazy season and family. Again...another reason I love my job. Little do they know, I loathe not being caught up and I long to spend December with my family without late nights of work.

Again, L family...LOVE each of you. I'll have your gallery out to you shortly.

{side note}: I'm mentally preparing a VERY thankful blog post with pictures and all. While I'm thankful each day...right now I'm feeling extra thankful and I have to share. Be sure to watch for that blog post.

A recent family session |Phoenix Family Session

Monday, November 22, 2010

There has been tons of editing madness and holiday card craziness going on in my office during all hours of the day and night. Thankfully the sessions dancing across my monitor makes me smile remembering the sessions.

One of the sweet sessions was with a little guy I photographed last summer. The ever so sweet...and cute Jake.

I always love seeing this little guys serious side. He has such a stunning look.

Now, can you see how cute this little guy is!?! AND, how cute the family is styled.

One the highlights for each of my sessions is seeing each family and how they worked at pulling their wardrobe together. While a photography session is truly about having memories created to have for all time, it's also important to have the session wardrobe to have cohesion so that it's also visually pleasing. A picture is always that much better when all the clothing pieces flow together. And, ultra important that the wardrobe isn't distracting, but complimentary and subtle.

Just as the busy portrait season is wrapping up, there are still a few weeks left where family sessions will be taking place. This is where I have the perfect idea to help ease the stress in the wardrobe planning.

The sweet mother behind this family is one styling goddess. I couldn't say enough how giddy happy I was the first time we met and she pulled a few outfit ideas for her son's session.

Let's just say...my mind was spinning and the creative juices started flowing in my head. Each piece she pulled for her son was ideal, complimentary, fit the style for her son's session, was a classic layout to what he typically wears, and not one of the outfits competed with the fun personality in his session.

The best part is she is offering her services to families that are in the wardrobe planning stages for portraits and other events. And, it gets better...she'll be your personal shopper.

Glowing at 39 weeks |Mesa Family Photographer

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Early this week, I met with a very sweet family, in the last stage of pregnancy with their second child. During the pre-session scheduling call, the mother shared with me her views on pregnancy and how important it was for her to have this stage in her life documented for her baby. She has an amazing birth plan that I'm sure will play out dreamy.

I could only sing happy songs about a woman going through a pregnancy and welcoming her child into the world. Granted, I had very easy pregnancies.

Meeting with the B family just a week before the due date left me thankful for my job and the incredible families I'm able to work with.

Now, I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to document the birth of their second baby girl.

At 39 weeks, just glowing and creating memories that her baby girl will cherish for a lifetime.

I love the peace and beauty in her eyes...
One very proud big sister, that I'm sure has a stack of books ready to share with her sister.

Big sister dancing her little jig. No matter what the session is, I can't resist fun pictures with the kids.

To the B family...I'm smiling just thinking of your baby girl's birthday.

Even though the family these cuties belong to have had their gallery for a bit...I couldn't resist sharing some of the sweetness that keeps them smiling all day!

These little guys took some time to show me their swift bike riding skills...SO happy I was there for it!

I'm still working on keeping up with galleries and designs...I have my mind set on spending all of December with my family. Deadlines are a good thing I guess...it helps me keep my eye on the prize!

Very excited to have time decorating the house with my kids, tamale making day and loads of baking! Fa la la la la!

Look who just.... |Chandler Family Photographer

...turned ONE!

This little guy grew up faster than I could blink. Last time I saw him he was celebrating his 4th month birthday!

Happy birthday little guy!
Seriously, is there a better way to celebrate a 1st birthday than having pictures with a family treasure.

I just loved this moment with his dad.
Love the little chompers captured!

There was nothing but smiles and loads of clapping his entire session. He's definitely one happy little guy that's a fan of being photographed.

To the Y family...your email should have a littel delivery soon!
