Oh...to be this cute! |Chandler Family Photographer

Monday, May 31, 2010

Well....this is just the session that can break me out of my "I swear I'm going to stick to my workflow" routine!

The processing on these are a bit out of my norm, but I couldn't resist. I had total visions when taking these...and they turned out just how I wanted.

Okay...just had to pop in....now, back to my workflow.

Hope everyone had a fabulous Memorial weekend. Mine...perfectly busy....but fun!

A piece of what's been filling my days.

Sunday, May 23, 2010

To say that I've been simply busy...would be a HUGE understatement. For me, my weeks are only crazy filled with anything that would take the strongest man down in just trying to keep up with us.

Here's a fast run down...
-the tummy flu
-library visits
-doctor's visit
-doctor appointments cancelled and rescheduled (LOATHE reschedules)
-two camera classes
-a swim/sprinkler/picnic party with my daughter's friends
-a photographer's meeting/get together at my house
-delivering 4 orders
-my husband out of town for a much needed 5 day "man"cation...aka fishing trip to Lake Powell. Thankfully his trip was cut short by a day
-AND, I can't forget the bigggest event...finding a snake on my bathroom rug at 1:30 in the morning. Yep...you read that right! I'm living in the jungle apparently. Also happened on the first night my husband was gone...good times.

Phew...I'm exhausted just typing that. And, I was definitely exhausted. Saturday night was our movie night with the girls...and I fell asleep in the first 5 minutes of the movie. So happy my girls didn't pull some girl slumber party trick on me like my friends and I did/do.

But, in the middle of that chaos, my kids and I had our first swim of the year.

When we were shopping for a new house, one of the things my husband and I weren't drawn to was a backyard pool. Not that we won't ever get one, it'll just be years until we even consider it. For now, we choose the "high-end, above ground" pool type.

For my kids, that's the best kind.
Easton was the most thrilled in this water adventure.
I just love how my girls have grown into this stage. I'm thrilled I don't have to threaten to withhold the air they breathe for a simple picture of them together....which was a comparable threat I'd make when they were younger as they thought a picture was pure torture.

I hope everyone's enjoying this beautiful Arizona weather we've been having so far. And, I'm giddy that my sessions haven't turned into sweat sessions...I have a few more outdoor sessions scheduled and I think the weather will be so much better than it has been in the past.

On that note, if you're interested in scheduling a session this summer...I would love to hear from you soon. My calendar is getting super tight and I'll be closing the summer months soon as my sessions are limited. June has one date left and July has a couple. Also, if you're a lover of Facebook...I have :::ahem::: a page for my little photog business. If you're even curious when I'm holding a special, opening my holiday calendar and just to stay in the know of what I'm up to...I would love for you to join it. Right now, I'm having a sweet little special but you'll have to go to my page to find it. Just look for Tami Proffitt Photography.

Set to married |Gilbert Family Photographer

It isn't too often I'm able to photograph a "soon to be married" couple.

This couple was a blast to be with and there definitely wasn't a shortage of laughs.

Watermelon baby

Monday, May 17, 2010

A few days ago, we had friends over...and enjoyed a warm evening with water, mud and watermelons. Even though I'm going to dread the Arizona heat soon, I love our evenings right now.

I had a hysterical time photographing Easton and he first slice of watermelon. Once again, this little guy did not want to be still for more than a second for me to capture his new love. But, I'm so happy I stuck it through since he thought I was being hysterical and I caught his sweet smile and laugh. Ah...I love this little guy.

This picture...my fav! He was starting to run past me and I kept clicking away and caught this.
My kids had a blast playing with the kids of a long time friend of my husband's... a friend that goes back to junior high. There is nothing sweeter than seeing our kids have fun together. Here is their littlest guy...and the chunkiest. He's just shy of being a year old.

One of my many favorites about summer....watermelon. Also a favorite piece I like to add to each of my summer sessions...if you have one coming up, I'll be happy to bring a few slices along.

Happy Summer!

My little dancer

Sunday, May 16, 2010

My girls have been going to a dance class since they were 2. This past spring, Camryn decided she didn't want to do dance but Cashlyn wanted to stay.

This was the first time that my girls did something without doing it together. At first I wasn't sure how it would go, but going to dance Camryn wasn't jealous or wondered why she wasn't going....she knew it just wasn't something she liked to do.

Well, until yesterday. Yesterday was Cash's dance recital and Camryn had a different idea about dance and her sister having the spotlight. It was so hard for me to see. I went into double time to make sure Camryn felt equally loved and adored as she watched her sister get dolled up and get loads of attention.
Cash did amazing at her recital...she danced the entire time on stage and was so proud of herself. We were so proud of her...our baby is growing up.

My girls started dance with their favorite dance teacher Mrs Tracey. We took a bit of a break from dance and the girls missed her so much... we ended going back to her. Then we got the yucky news that this dance year would be her last...gasp! I tried explaining it to Cashlyn but I'm not sure she quite got it, well until we return to dance class.

To her, dance class is Mrs. Tracey and Mrs. Tracey is dance class. Those two go hand in hand. I'm anxious to see where Cash decided to go with dance. For now, she's pretty darn cute flashing her dance moves and really just enjoys it.

Here is the ever famous Mrs. Tracey.

We hear a lot about Mrs. Tracey in my house...she's a permanent person in my girl's eyes. Needless to say, she'll be missed.
Mrs. Tracey...I know this time is equally hard for you. But what you have left my girls with is priceless. We'll forever be grateful that Cash started dance with you and will always have that memory. Because, let's be honest, she sure didn't get the love for dance from me....remember, I have two left feet. We are going to miss you more than you know!

xoxo

Now, me and my baby girls. Can you guess which one wasn't too happy? That's about as good as it gets for pictures with me. I do love my girls.

ONE bridal shower |Mesa Family Photographer

Thursday, May 13, 2010

A couple weeks ago, I was honored to capture a special celebration for a girl preparing for her wedding in Lebanon.

When we arranged my coverage of the event, I wasn't prepared for what I was about to be a part of. So, let me do my best in summing it up in words...and several pictures.

The event I photographed was on one of our windiest days in Arizona...seriously...windy isn't even a good word to describe it. More like, hurricane force... blow you down to the ground on your face...WIND!

As I was driving there, I had knots in my stomach just trying to force myself not to imagine how the wind would be affecting a girl's special celebration and keep hair from being completely blown in horizontal and vertical directions. And, it did not affect it one bit.

Thankfully, the home was able to accomodate the countless amount of women there to join in her happiness and the delicious food.

As the event began, I was blown away by the overflowing amounts of love and happiness filling the home as her guests arrived....I'm going to roughly estimate at least 50 people. And each person was connected to her through friendship and family connections. And each person was screaming happy to be there. I spoke with a few women there and tried my hardest to keep up with them sharing how each person was connected. Each person...connected in a close, tight relationship to the bride to be. The relationships and stories were simply beautiful.

Aside from those there to celebrate, the bride's mother provided an abundance of food...and large platters of pure deliciousness. The main courses were Lebanese recipes and each one looked scrumptious.

Those that know me know one thing about me...I LOVE food. Like, if there was a room full of people and one tiny french fry...my nose would hunt it down and I would be huddled in the corner devouring it and licking my fingers. I have a horrible habit of stockpiling my plate and throwing all etiquette out the door when it comes to filling my belly. Just to paint that tacky picture for you. So, imagine me in a house filled with yummy food.

Thankfully, I opted to give those attending a moment to eat without me capturing each moment of them eating, to try a few dishes. And, just to share, I didn't help myself. The hosts of the bridal shower repeatedly asked if I'd eaten yet and insisted on me eating. It was so funny, it reminded me of my grandmother and her sisters....we're hispanic...insisting on me eating and making me plates filled with tortillas, beans, tamales and flautas while telling me I was too skinny.

Here is just a glimpse from the main course table. To add, all prepared by the bride's mother and grandmother.
The "make your tummy yearn for more" dessert table. {Bragging moment} the cake was made by the bride's mother. Iit was impressive and delish.

Below....pure sweetness...enough said.
At the start of the bridal shower, I photographed the bride to be with a few guests and family. Here she is with her little sister...
And, with three of her best friends.

A proud mother with her two girls. I loved this trio. This picture captures their relationship perfectly.
While photographing this event, I have to admit is was refreshing to just be the "fly on the wall" and capture the little moments during her party.
The event was filled with tight relationships and traditions. It was truly beautiful to watch the welcoming, hugging, visiting, celebrating, and loving on all the children as though they were their own.
I giggled when I saw the little side party, with the only boys attending.
Each bridal shower is filled with games, but the games at this party were hilarious and so fun to watch.
While each moment of this event was special, I enjoyed watching a large tradition in this family. Cake cutting time...filled will celebrating, tears, hugging, singing and dancing.

Again, this event was filled with traditions and love. To the J family, I enjoyed each moment capturing this important time in your life and watching the love in your relationships. I also have to thank you for how gracious you were in welcoming me into your home. Thank you.

One of my favorite little guys! |Gilbert Child Photographer

Sunday, May 9, 2010

A couple weeks ago I met up with my cousin and her little sweeties...who just happens to be one of my favorite little boys.

A little story...my cousin and I have been close since we were in high school. She was right there with me when I was struggling to get pregnant. When I made the happy call to let her know I was expecting...I heard the second best thing...she was also expecting. Our due dates were just days apart. I'm sure you can imagine the screaming being shared during that phone call.

Here is her little guy...

And yep, he works the camera like it's his only job. I have to laugh though....laugh when I think back to when I was photographing him when he was almost 2.
Our time together was probably, eh...um...maybe 15 minutes. This session was a bit of the last minute gig...with the session being held in the morning with my kiddos hanging in the car while she kept an eye on them. Thank goodness she believed that their cough was from allergies and not the plague...she's a bit like me...a germaphobe!

There's always a little jumping action during kid's sessions.

Now, this isn't the perfect picture but it's so a sibling moment. This is always what I see when I'm working on getting the cute sibling picture. Each one having an idea of their own, none of which includes getting a cute picture together.
And then....I try a little kid magic that will typically buy me a few minutes.

Many of you might remember when I took my cousin's maternity and then newborn pictures. Well, here is sweet little baby I....not far from being one year old.

And...I have to do a little plug on my cousin as I'll be writing loads more about her soon. Basically, my cousin is the hair styling goddess. She is the master of hair cuts, colors and now the Brazilian Blowout. She works in the Sachi Salon in Scottsdale.

Right now, I'm working on saving each one of my dimes and nickels to have my hair straightened. Let's jut say my hair is the type that is the uncontrollable friz that I rarely have the energy to tackle, which is why it's up majority of the time. This new technique that Andrea is now trained is good for your hair and makes a girl's life so easy. And, what girl doesn't want easy hair!?!

Thank Aung for a great time!
