Matt….Class of 2014 | Senior Portraits

Sunday, March 30, 2014

Last week I had a session that was different than typical sessions.  For this senior session, Matt wanted to have his session at an arts center in Mesa, which is different from the natural locations I shoot at.  I'll be honest, it was out of my comfort zone but was amazing to be pushed creatively.

Of course it helped that the young man I was photographing was outstanding and seriously easy to photograph.  He was very cooperative, respectful and overall confident to be himself.  There was a creative festival at the location.  I worried with all the people passing by that he'd have a hard time relaxing.  I asked him at the start of the session if he would be comfortable with being photographed with onlookers…and he didn't hesitate that it was fine.  And yep, he was and I loved that he had the confidence to do his own thing and not worry about staring.

Matt, thanks for all the laughing, funny stories between you and your sister for
 an overall incredible session.
And my favorite outtake!  Not only did we work around the people at the festival, but waiting when the life-size bumble bee, owl, praying mantis and butterfly  passed by in theatrical spirit.  I can't stop laughing at this picture…definitely a keeper for Matt to have from his senior picture session.
