I've finally ordered gallery prints for the hallway of the kids over the past few years.
One of the pictures I wanted printed was Cashlyn shortly after we moved into our house when she was 4 years old. Cashlyn grew up with my camera following her around everywhere. And needless to say, she is not a big fan of me taking her picture still to this day.
Across the street from our house was an old mailbox that I loved. It's sad to realize that mailboxes like these are a part of our history and rare to see. Since this picture was taken, this mailbox has been taken down and replaced with a new modern mailbox...all that's left is that old wood stump.
It's not the happiest picture of Cash, but it is does capture her attitude perfectly when I want to take her picture. And it's a piece of who she is that I want to remember.
Cashlyn is determined, opinionated, confident, mothering, thoughtful of her brother and sister, sensitive and my first baby. She is all of my personality. And I love seeing the little bits of me in her every day in all that she does.
Before I ordered the gallery print...I knew I loved the colors in this picture since it was taken just an hour after sunrise. But this picture is also incredibly full of emotion and meaning for me. I'm a firm believer that not every picture deserves to be printed in black and white. But this picture was screaming to be printed in B/W. Don't get me wrong, the colors are pretty but I wanted to focus of this picture to be on the emotion and texture in it.
When the print arrived, I regretted not making it a bigger print because I am in LOVE with this black and white. And even more with every emotion I feel when I look at it.

Wow ~ what a huge difference in pictures. I LOVE the black and white too ~ this picture could have been 100 years old (give or take a few years :) LYG, N
