I have to be honest...I knew I needed to do a day to be completely unplugged but actually closing a day is another thing! My calendar fills up incredibly fast, we seem to ALWAYS be on the go and just as soon as a month starts it ends! The incredible Unplugged idea was perfectly put together by Jodie of Jodified Designs ! Thankfully I've had her blog as a reminder with each of her postings....with each post I'd think...
"Okay, gotta figure out when to do it. Wait, there isn't a time to do it. But I NEED to do it...for my family. Because DAMN it, being plugged in ISN'T more important than family time! BUT I oh so can afford to not to...!"
Thankfully the last day of the month landed on a Sunday...which truly is our families day of rest! But, it just happened to also be the day of a family BBQ with family that drove in from Kansas. So... we were unplugged with tons of several nice hours together and then more time with my sisters and their children....total of 8 kids under one roof!
My day started out with a sweet view...my Sunday ads and eating breakfast with Cash and her newly acquired balloon! (thanks Brandon)
We then ventured out for some fun finger painting...my girls FAVORITE art activity! My printing company sends their prints tightly packaged and sealed in nice boxes. The former teacher in me just can't see these boxes go to waste! While they aren't good for storage, they are good for art projects, science projects, etc.
When I was photographing the art in process, I looked to my left and noticed Cam using her stick to paint her finger nails....LOVE this girl....just LOVE her....oh, my heart pounds hard for her!
Next up...gluttony! We filled up our plates with everything that would make our bellies happy! And I watched my girls create some serious odd meals...next unplugged day will be making a real meal together!
I giggled....my blonde Cam just had to have the frog on her cake. There isn't always obvious reason to her actions, but to her it makes sense!
Where was Easton today...he was sleeping the day away. On Saturday we were out all day and he went to bed 3 hours past his bedtime..he was ONE tired little guy! Which actually made for fun girl bonding time!
My Unplugged day was fun...it was worth it...it was worth doing again! Now, have you unplugged lately...could you do it? I know, it's hard but we survived...except for the computer time I got in late at night and phone chats to coordinate with family! I ALMOST made it!
Ky Update! I want to thank each of you for your sweet words, comments, emails and phone calls! I especially want to thank those that sent out prayer requests to those that don't even know her or me for that matter. I am humbled by everyones compassion and dropping what they were doing to send a sweet 16 year old prayers and positive thoughts. THANK YOU...her mother thanks YOU!
She does continue to be in the hospital to monitor the head trauma and for pressure on her brain. At this point, a doctor was concerned with what resembled fractures on her spine, however, was argued by other doctors. Therefore, she will be monitored closely to see how things develop as her body starts recovering.
My girls were able to talk with her today! Cash specifically wanted to know why she got in an accident and also let her know she got Dora bandaids for the owie on her head. Ky is incredibly good to my girls and answered their questions with such maturity and grace. As soon as she returns home, they will be happy to welcome her.

First, Bailey just walked in and said, "I like that frog on that cake, I want that cake!"
Second, great post! LOVED the photos!
Third, HOLY HELL I was sobbing yesterday when I first read about Ky. We LOVE our baby sitters too and I would die if something like that happened to them! Prayers for her and her family...
Isn't that sweet little Ky just the BEST ~ I can just hear her talking to the girls now. So cute of Cash to let her know about the Dora bandaids for her owie :) She is still constantly in my thoughts and prayers and many others around me. We love you Ky!!!!
Adorable pictures of your Unplugged day ~ the pictures will be looked at over and over and I wish I was there doing that with all of you. I'm also thinking Cam got more than her nails painted. WooHoo for Easton sleeping ~ finally!!!!
And, just so you know, I LOVED being pregnant too and remember the feeling of being able to do it over and over again. I think I would still do it if I wasn't so darn old :) Someone would then have to raise the baby for me . . . so I could play with my grandchildren of course :) LYG ~ N
I am so sorry to hear about your dear friend's accident BUT am thrilled to hear she is doing so well. God must have had his arms wrapped tight around her that day! I wish her the best in her recovery.
As for the Unplugged Day, what a GREAT idea. I am making it a must do for the near future...and will pass the idea on through my blog.
Love your Blog!
