Now, this is where we left off.
When I spoke with my uncle, I couldn't help but get choked up when hearing how when he married his beautiful wife they were not only young but had no money. They had few....seriously few, like maybe a handful....pictures from their wedding as they just didn't have it in their wedding budget. He wanted to schedule a photo shoot to celebrate their 40th anniversary to make up for that and also as a lead up to the surprise he had been planning with a very dear friend of theirs. A renewal of their wedding vows with their children and close family...a very intimate ceremony.
Before I go any further, I must write the disclaimer that I have minimal experience in not only photographing only adults but having an idea for the amount of time needed. When we scheduled this session....I scheduled more time than needed.

About 20 minutes into the session, I had everything I wanted. Photographing these two were super easy as they are EXTREMELY comfortable in front of the camera and left me little work to do. So, my uncle and I did whatever we could to help the time pass without giving anything away to my aunt. It was actually very cute....we had a little mini session of just my uncle....see below (he was quite hilarious to photograph with his fun ideas)
...and tried a few different things. We also talked a TON about family as our family is not only VERY dynamic but VERY large.

While I do not photograph weddings, or have any interest to do so, I couldn't help but love being a part of capturing the little moments in this ceremony. It's these little moments that were captured that have become my favorite pictures. Like favorite to the point of wanting large prints of...definitely over the more traditional shots.
The emotion in the picture below....leaves me speechless as the emotion captured tells the story itself. NO words needed.

The only grandchild...at least for 6 more months...I was excited to finally write that! Little L and her other grandmother and the dear friend who helped orchestrate this event.

This picture....makes my heart go thumpity thump! I love how she still looks at him in awe of his love, strength, and commitment to her.

The little moments that show how she can still make a grown man cry and leave him thankful for each day she has given him.

And to have them hug as though it were the first day of the commitment they made 40 years ago.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm located in south Gilbert, Arizona. I have twin daughters and one little boy...between the three of them, they keep my days busy between gymnastics and soccer. My children and husband are my biggest support each day.
