Happy Remembrance!

After, almost, 7 L-O-N-G months...my brother is finally home! I can't even begin to scream loud enough! Screaming with all of the excitement that has been bottled up in this waiting game. We first heard he would be coming home around the 30th, then it was moved up to the 27th and has stayed there until a day or so ago, when his arrival was changed to today! The last 24 hours have been filled with the emotions of excitement and disappointment, with possibilities of us missing his arrival.

After a 28 hour trip home, my brother, Vince, is home. He returned home with a STUFFED backpack full of all he would need for this time. As a overpacking girl, it's pretty humbling to see he could fit everything in one pack. So of course I asked if all his clothes were rolled up like little sausages. Geez!
My brother is home...he is home to celebrate the delivery of his new daughter! He will be home for then next 18 days. At this point, I can't help but have mixed emotions of his return and his departure once again. But, for now I need to remember that he is home for a long 18 days. And he is the happiest he has probably been in 7 months. With every hug from his daughter, he couldn't help but keep saying it was the best sunshine he felt on his face.

On Memorial Day today, seeing my brother with his family reminded me of the large sacrifices our soliders give up each day to serve our country. Whether or not there is belief in the current war...there should always be belief and faith in our soliders. In my eyes, they lead a selfless life by putting their lives at risk to help and protect others. They are serving the great country we are priviledged to live in. It is the soliders of the past that have given us our freedoms today and the soliders of today that will continue to give freedom to our children. Before going to bed, remember to give a little shout out to the men and women in our military who have served and are serving...whether it stays in your mind, in a prayer, a phone call or a random letter of thank you.
