A rock star at 2 weeks |Chandler Baby Photographer

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

I always say, the perfect age to photograph a newborn is 2 weeks and under. This little guy, was the perfect 2 weeks old. Yet, while this is the ideal age for a newborn session...they don't always want to agree with what their photographer has in mind for them.

This little guy could probably write a book on how he was born a rock star...right from birth, he has been bright eyed and ready to rock.

The funny part is, while he didn't want to miss a thing during his first photoshoot...he was perfectly content. Rarely fussed, filled with smiles, often found yawning and very happy snuggled with his parents.

The entire session, his parents were oozing love for their new baby. Their baby they dreamed of.

And this...this is going to be the cover picture of his first album. Just as we agreed that we were fighting a loosing battle to get the cute curly newborn pictures...I pleaded for one more in a onsie that perfectly fit his personality. Which was proudly picked out by his daddy.
Super cute outtake...capturing him mid-yawn.

This...this is from the 3 seconds of him counting the sheep. Okay, maybe 2 minutes of him snoozing, none the less...it was a super quick nap. But I just love his sweet lips, 10 perfect toes, the very new belly button, kissable ear, and sweet button nose.

I'm always humbled when I'm invited into a client's home to capture this sweet stage in their lives. And very envious of the mother's that confidently snuggle with their baby for pictures...

The two happy woman in baby M's life....mom and big sister.
Oh, the love in this picture makes me smile...and smile big that baby M will have when he's older.

My biggest regret with my son Easton is I chose not to do a family newborn session. My BIGGEST regret.

After delivering my baby, I wasn't feeling my best in many respects. However, the fleeting stage where my son was fresh and new...was captured without me snuggling him. Missing out on pictures that I wasn't fond of being in but my son will sadly miss seeing when he's grown...surely a mistake I assure each of my clients not to make.

To each of the mother's in my newborn sessions...kudos to you for proudly showing off your gorgeous self. Not only will this mean the world to your baby when they're grown but for you to remember this happy time years from now. This will be a memory you'll be happy to be a part of.

Now...I have a very crazy busy week ahead of me and here I am still awake. Eeek, tomorrow will be one long day.

To the C family...thank you for a wonderful time. I enjoyed each second getting to know you.

Who she is |Mesa Family Photographer

I am proud to share with you a mother that I was blessed to meet, hug tightly, giggle with, smile at, and calm all my fears in just the moments I was with her.

She is a mother.

Meet Marlene.

She is grace.
She is humble.
She is an example.
She is selfless.
She is love.

She is a mother.

When preparing for this post, I wanted a grand statement to go alongside her pictures. Something that was equally moving as the time I was with her. As I've been thinking over it, in the moments I shared with her...there wasn't anything boastful or grandious about her. She was simple beauty, peace and pure love.

My mother is a poem
I'll never be able to write,
though everything I write
is a poem to my mother.
-- Sharon Doubiago

She is also filled with charisma, personality and smiles. Here she is shining with her girls...5 beautiful girls.
And snuggling with her sweet son...her baby. As a mother of a boy, I see these two and my eyes well with tears. There is something between a mother and her son that can never be described.
She sat proudly with her children...beaming with pride for her biggest accomplishments.
And while there were six children included in this special session...I'll be sure to be back with more. For now, here are her two oldest.

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us;
when adversity takes the place of prosperity;
when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us;
when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving

I truly do not want to follow this post with any of my typical rambling words, but just want to share that I will be "unplugged" for the weekend as I have sweet plans for family time. I'll answer all emails and phone calls on Monday.

Head over heels in love |Scottsdale Baby Photographer

Newborn sessions are truly a special session...it's a session where there's oodles of love and complete happiness that a family had just been expanded by one more.

With the baby fever I've been having lately, these newborn sessions are just what this little mommy heart needs. And sweet baby J was full of sweetness.

At just a few weeks old...baby J is strong, perfect and loves to pucker his lips. Oh, couldn't you just squeeze him.

With each session, I'm just thrilled that the majority of the session is photographing everyone with the baby. This time of the newborn session is my ultra favorite part. There is something special between a new baby and their parents. When taking the pictures, I think of how special these moments will be for the baby to see when grown.

To see how absolutely in love his parents are, how stunning his mother is...even shortly after giving birth, and to see how absolutely tiny he is in his parents arms.

And of course the adorable little faces he made at just three weeks old.

Thank you S family for welcoming me into your home. Thank you for being absolutely perfect to work with...I hope to have your gallery sent out in the next few days.

Is it Kansas...NOPE!

I always giggle, as I get more comments on the picture that I use as the header of my blog.

That picture was :::hands down::: one of my favorite pictures. And, it was taken almost one year ago to the day.

I'll never forget talking to that sweet babe's mommy...also an fab photographer...when she mentioned wanting to do something with a vintage pram she had...I knew exactly where it needed to be taken.

When we got there...I was giddy happy as I carried the pram into the field, with the dream of capturing just what I wanted.

The best part is...his mother and I both are head over heels for this picture. She and I were taking pictures simultaneously and I was happy to see she created a gallery piece with it. Oh, how I love displaying pictures as art.

Okay...so I rambled there...I digress.

The point is...at a recent session, a client asked where that field was as it looks like it's in Kansas. Nope, just the far east valley. If you look in the background, you can see the superstition mountains.

And, I'm happy to write that the field is ready for some photography lovin' again. I have one sweet little girl, who recently turned 9, in mind for this photoshoot. I'll be anxious to have this creative fun.

Here is just one little picture of my sweet girl in this field. The funny thing is, whenever we drive by any fields now, she always says she'll never go in it because there could be snakes hiding. Now I just need to pull these pictures out and show her that she once was in a field.

A little shoe guy.... |Paradise Valley Child Photographer

The session for this little guy....has so been on my mind since his mother mentioned it to me.

Little M is turning 2....and 2 is one of the sweetest, most fun and active age.

At the start of the session, his mother pulled out his stylin' Converse...two different pairs in two different colors.

::::my heart started beating fast:::: There is something about Converse that I'm head over heels in love with...they simply make me smile and I have to add ... are the cutest shoes on little kids.

I had met Little M several weeks ago, and when I met him he was playing on an IPad and spelling words. Yep....this little guy is quite the smarty pants.

At the start of his session, he was definitely sizing me up...answered each question I had...he was a great listener...but he made me work for his smiles. Right then, I tapped into my inner 2 year old and we became best friends. This was just one more reason why I love my job...there is nothing better than giggling with a 2 year old.

I was giddy happy when he brought along his special baby ... and loved how he just held it's neck tight to him. Such love....

Happy 2nd birthday sweet M. I loved each minute with you...and I'm still giggling from our time together.

And he shares his frogs... |Queen Creek Child Photographer

After Cade's session, my girls and his sister joined in the frog fun.

And my little Cam was in heaven.

She loves all bugs, animals...and just about anything that can't talk. She's my little animal whisperer.
Hee hee....just a cute moment with my cousin's son. These three were born just weeks apart...but actually our due dates were just days apart.

When his sister joined...I giggled at the "oh so typical, big brother teasing".

And one of our many attempts in getting these two photographed...the frogs were a bit of a distraction.

And that...this frog love turned into a family frog love moment.

Several weeks ago, I met up with my cousin and her kids for a little fun shoot. After chatting with my cousin Andrea, we thought how fun it would be to photograph her son with one of his absolute favorites...frogs.

We started the session with a few pictures...but his attention was more on the little surprise I had brought and the bugs he was having fun looking for.
Then it was onto his love at first sight.

The night I picked up the frogs from a friend's house, I realized that there was in no way I was going to touch them. They were absolutely icky and gross. Now, there are several gross things that I can deal with and touch, it just doesn't phase me...but these frogs....EWWWWW!

So, I brought along a spoon to help pick them out of the jar just in case my cousin's son wasn't a fan of touching them either...and a butterfly net if he tried to hop away.

It didn't take long until he was spinning and singing love tunes to his new best friends.
And kissing them...double gross.

And, showing them how to kiss.
Such a fun session, and there are oodles more from this time.
