After finishing up my girls three year session, I took a few minutes to photograph my girlfriend's grandmother. For the past few years I've seen her and craved camera time but never wanted to impose.  I wanted to do more than create a portrait. I wanted to create her story... her legacy. The story she began when she was born and is now being carried on and told through her daughters.

This lady raised an wonderful woman whom I am truly fond of.  She is the grandmother to one of my dearest and closest friends and her sister.

With each meeting, I find my breathe taken away by the peaceful look on her face or the smirk she wears, and the stories of whit that she has left her granddaughters to tell.  I see this women surrounded by the beautiful women she raised. The beautiful women who are her legacy.  A legacy of love, faith, courage, whit, and happiness. And when I write faith, it is a faith in honesty, goodness and integrity of those around them.  The three qualities that are and should be most admirable.  The qualities that make them better people, leading them to see the better in others.

While I don't know this woman personally, I feel as though I have.  I do know her story. I know her children.  I know the women she has raised and they are amazing.  While I would love to capture her and create 100 years of life story...it already was created and it is being told through her daughter and grandchildren's lives.

A girlfriend once said..."her child was her greatest accomplishment in life."  There honestly couldn't be any statement more true.  Being a mother to my three beautiful children is my biggest accomplishment in life.

This woman merely puts priorities into perspective.

It's a shocker!

These three kids have three things in common....
all born on the same day...delivered by the same doctor...and share the same pediatric doctor.  To top it off...their fathers have been friends since they were swinging bats for little league.
My girlfriend and I have been wanting to get pictures of these three together for some time.  BUT...I'll be honest... photographing toddlers is NOT easy...it can actually be darn right difficult.  There are few tricks to encourage them but what it comes down to is making a wish and hoping it comes true.  Today, a wish came true.

I've been photographing my sweet Cam and she JUST isn't a fan of being photographed so I get what I can get.  Mr. R...I think I might have photographed him beaming his pearly whites maybe....MAYBE 6 times and I've photographed him A LOT.

Mr. R's mother and I planned to do our kids three year photo shoot together this year.  AND wow...I'm thinking that was the factor needed for A GREAT session.  It was an AMAZING time!

All three children were fabulous and showed off their cute stuff.  Narrowing down my favorites was HARD so...here are a few of one too many favorites!

Since birth we saw a marriage in their future...

I think one of my ALL TIME favorite pictures!

UPDATE:  I'm officially off maternity leave this Saturday.  So, if you are a little tired of seeing my children...there will be a variety coming.

AND more!

For some reason this picture just speaks to me!  No, I don't REALLY hear voices in my head but the feeling and emotion is what I hear.  This is the pensive look my sweet Cash almost always has.  It's either her thinking deeply on what she heard, what is to be or how to better something.  She also has this look when she is just taking care of her brother and sister....always watching out for them.

This picture will be a portrait on my wall...not a smiling face forward, not perfectly centered in frame, nor looking at the camera.  That is not how I want to remember this age...I want to remember this look.  This is my daughter at the turning of 3 years old.  SHE is growing up.

My big baby!

Sunday, February 22, 2009

A couple weeks ago, my twins passed a milestone that I honestly dreaded...they turned 3!  I guess this milestone was hard because they're no longer toddlers but entered the preschool age. They have lost that baby mind...and are kids...they hold conversations, try reasoning, are independent, no longer call me mommy, and not to mention argue (and with good reasons too)!
Today my sweet Cash and I headed out for a photography playdate! I've had my eye on this location for some time now and FINALLY photographed there...AAAAH, I loved every second of this location!  When I came across this tractor...the only thing keeping me from kicking off my flips and running to it in pure elation were the sticker filled weeds surrounding it.  By this time...Cash was ready to be done!  She politely told me..."Okay mom, no more pictures please."

My sweetie is so different from her sister and I love every detail that sets her apart....here are my top 5 favorites that describes her.

1.  Extremely polite. She is typically always checking with what is nice and not nice, while quickly calling anyone out.
2.  Very mothering to her twin.
3.  Loves anything girly...loves to shop, jewelry, shoes, makeup, hair, and of course her nails.
4.  Can giggle at the drop of a pin.
5.  Practicing "safety" is her number one priority.
OKAY 6...
6.  Is SERIOUSLY one smart kid....she'll be that student who will sit in the front seat of class, wanting to sharpen the teacher's pencils, will beg for extra credit, volunteer to be the hall monitor, and quickly call the teacher out when she makes a mistake.

I just love her to pieces!  Get ready for some Cash overload!

AND one weird fact...she LOVES and HAS to smell EVERYTHING!  I about died laughing when she picked this weed to smell it and then says, "Mom, this smells good!"  I swear she is part bloodhound!

When we were leaving...she randomly says...
Mom, I'll always be your big baby even when I get big enough to touch the butterflies.  I couldn't keep my eyes from welling up with tears...

NOW...either this week or next...my girlfriend and I have a uber fun shoot planned for our children that involve a bus that is set to go ANYWHERE!  I'll be anxious to share!

2 months and more!

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Yep...it's true! My baby is two months old...I know!  Where has the time gone!?!  It seems like it was just yesterday when I was doing some belly rubbing, inhaling ANY candy, cherishing the baby kicks, and wishing the days could last a bit longer in hopes I would get a few more days of my prego loving!

My baby...is growing up!  And, just when I think he is the cutest...he gets cuter EACH.NEW.DAY!

He's honestly a fabulously easy baby... but then again, ANYTHING is easy when compared to newborn twins!

The past couple weeks, he started acting a bit different...a little more grumpy (not bad though),  broken sleep, a lot of grunting, and some squirming.  I really didn't think much of it...until one day he was SERIOUSLY fussy and was running a low grade fever.  We then took him in and ....my baby had an ear infection!  My poor baby!  How could this happen!  My heart just broke!  My doctor then begins to warn me of the dreaded RSV season. He's now on antibiotics and my peaceful, quiet baby is back.

Just so you know, I'm a HUGE germ freak as all of my babies were born during RSV season.  So, don't be shocked if you find my little guy sporting an anti-bacterial soap necklace and a large Rosary made of Kleenex tissues to keep the evil cold and RSV germs away!
AND...if you come to my house, be prepared to scrub down with Purell, dress in a stylish rubber suit and ready to wear a breathing mask!  I promise to not take you picture!

Here is my favorite baby boy at two months old!  In his famous rock star pose!

I finally figured out how to have my sweet Cam enjoy being photographed...photograph her brother and she SUDDENLY wants in on the action!  THIS is the sweetness I'm blessed with each day. AND her GORGEOUS blue eyes...also known as the Proffitt Blues...we're HOPING out baby gets those baby blues.

AAAAAH, I could just reach in those pictures and SQUEEZE her!
Then as I'm finishing up...my baby Cash joined in!  She joined flashing her contagious smile.
I have a good life...I live a good life...and my babies are my life!
My life lately hasn't had too much sleep...which for me is NO BUENO!  Let's just say..when I'm sleep deprived I should hire someone to EDIT my emails!  Not pretty...NOT pretty!  It's times like these I'm blessed with incredibly understanding clients and friends who not only laugh with me but laugh at me! LOVIES to you all!

Looky Loo!

As I've been cleaning up my computer I keep coming across pictures that remind me of sessions that I just loved! I won't bore you with the gazillion I've oohed and aahed at...so here are just a few.
I just loved this little guy below...
and his twin sister for all their adorableness!
Going through my computer is REALLY getting me excited to get back to work! And..have I mentioned before how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE photographing children! The countdown is starting until my first official "off maternity leave" session.

Her little moments!

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

My blonde sweetie isn't what I would call camera friendly....meaning, dreads the camera in her direction!  My problem is I crave capturing her energy, spirit and animation!  SHE reminds me so much of myself and I love every bit of it!  It also helps me in my patience with her constant HIGH energy zest for life!

A few days ago, I randomly asked her if she would let me take her picture.  Shockingly she agreed...of course I ran and grabbed my camera for our impromptu shoot!  What cracks me up is I was really wanting to get her sweet smiling side and yet I fell in love with the little details that make my heart beat fast and brings a big smile to my face!

Her drive to achieve... all on her terms!
How easily she gets sidetracked by the tiniest distractions !
And how her pride shines with a simple movement!
These are the little moments I want to remember!

We're three!

Sunday, February 15, 2009

It's hard to image my baby girls are three!  They have no problem telling me in their sweetest voice...."We're three!"
Guess who made a guest appearance for their birthday celebration!
Happy birthday to my babies!

Exhausted!

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Oh, the life of a two year old...
I'm doing some serious cleaning up on my computer...going through old files, backing up, burning disks, and trying to not be too overwhelmed with the past 6 months of my family life that STILL needs to be printed!  While going through the computer grind...I came across a picture I meant to share last fall!  How cute is this little guy?  At two years old, he can sure work a ranch!

Too easy!

My sessions are typically filled with constant movement, this session was everything but that. It isn't too often I photograph a family with older children and I soaked up this ultra fun session.

Here is their beautiful mother, L, with her gorgeous daugthers. I was especially touched when L and I prepared for her shoot and she shared how she hasn't had a family portrait taken since her children were younger. L, I couldn't think of a better time to have your portrait taken. Capturing your children as they are, before they have families of their own.To the H family...thank you for a wonderful afternoon and keeping me entertained.

Love

Sunday, February 8, 2009

I can honestly say that there is no kind of love that can come close to a mother's love. And to be a part of capturing this unmeasurable love is truly a blessing.

Throughout my session with baby H, I was in awe of the love that I felt during each tender moment with her mother.

And the unbridled love that can bring a toddler to sheer happiness within seconds! Truly humbled to witness the look of pure joy.

AND...ending with sister love...that makes your heart smile.

Dusting off my camera!

Thursday, February 5, 2009

I can't begin to express enough on the FULL rush I get after a photography shoot!  After a newborn shoot...it is an incredibly feeling!  A feeling to know I was welcomed by a family to capture one of their blessings.  To help them create family heirlooms for their children and those who follow.

You may remember this cutie....from her first debut in her mommy's tummy...click here for her moment!  When her mother and I were scheduling her session, I absolutely fell in love with how we shared identical feelings in valuing motherhood and cherishing our babies.  The only problem was our due dates were a few days apart...ahem...problem!  But, with a little bit of patience, this cuties newborn session was held off for me to have little more time soaking us my new babies cuteness!

Here is Baby H...4 weeks old and absolutely as precious as could be.  My heart melted when I saw how tiny she was...tiny but overflowing with the cuteness that comes with a baby girl.  Total squishy cuteness!  And...an incredibly mellow baby!

And...at 4 weeks old showing off her strength and those baby blues!

Now...color or
...black and white?  I'm a black and white girl, so I'd have to go black and white.

Thank you P family for once again welcoming me into your home.  You are an incredibly wonderful family to work with and I'm thankful for amazing clients like yourselves.

NOW...be sure to check back for some family loving for the newest baby girl in their home. I dusted off my camera for my first shoot of the year and now I'm dusting off my computer as I'm back to work...for ONE shoot that is!
